Mike Coykendall is a songwriter, producer, and multi-instrumentalist whose music is deeply shaped by his Kansas roots. Raised in the Midwest, he grew up surrounded by wide skies, long drives, and the quiet spaces where songs take form. That sense of place runs through his work, which blends Americana, folk, and rock into a sound that feels grounded, melodic, and patiently crafted.

Over the course of his career, Coykendall has built a reputation as both a thoughtful songwriter and a trusted collaborator. He is a founding member of Klyde Konnor and the Old Joe Clarks, projects that showcase his range as a writer and bandleader. In addition to his own work, he has collaborated and performed with artists including M. Ward and She & Him, contributing as a musician, arranger, and producer.

Coykendall’s career has taken him into studios and onto stages around the world, touring extensively and helping shape records known for their warmth, clarity, and attention to detail. Equally comfortable behind the scenes or in the spotlight, he is known for his steady musical instincts and collaborative spirit. Whether writing his own material or working alongside other artists, he brings a Midwestern sensibility to everything he does—unflashy, durable, and focused on the long arc of the song.
