Americana PDX-why now?

Musicians of a certain age and audiences of certain age are finding limited choices for live music. My goal is to keep musicians working and to find venues that are willing to book them.

About owner Shelley Garrett… I've been a volunteer in the music community since the mid 90s, serving on the board of the Cascade Blues Association twice. I also served on the board of the Oregon Music Hall of Fame, compiled the calendar for the Jazz Society of Oregon for 22 years, and helped to put on many benefits. I've also managed the music career of John Bunzow since 2018

I recently ran Artichoke Music (booking the music starting in 2022, then became the volunteer Executive Director from 2023-2025)

Artichoke Music was close to closing in early 2023, right before the 50th Anniversary. During that time, the SAM team (Small And Mighty…Gary Furlow, Sara Wolff-Rice and Christopher Dolan) plus MANY volunteers and sponsors brought new audiences and financial stability.

Now I’ve moved my booking focus to bring music closer to home… The venues so far are in Southeast Portland (DeNicola’s Italian Restaurant) Central Eastside Portland (HōKū Events on Madison), and in Southwest Portland (Burlingame Space & the Old Market Pub)

As we gear up, audiences have been ecstatic about finding music in their neighborhoods and we're just getting started!
